Memories weren’t supposed to be kept digital.
I am a huge believer in loving your photographs in a physical form. They were never taken with the intention of solely existing digitally. We all know the drill, you save a photograph to your camera roll, maybe you save ten. You smile at it, make it your phone wallpaper. Then you close the app. The next day, you screenshot something, take a quick snap of something else.
Bit by bit, the precious memories that you have invested in have been nudged all the way up your camera roll and you’ll forget to look at them for another few weeks. It’s brilliant having digital, it means that your images are with you wherever you are, you can share them, post them, put them on your Instagram (please do!) But nothing will quite match up to the joy had when printing them, transforming them into high quality, fine art prints that you lovingly frame and place on your shelves. Choosing your favourites to display in a gorgeous, soft to touch album that everyone who comes round asks to look at. Hanging them large, decorating your walls with the best art you could find - your family.
There is something about walking into a room again and again that has a large print of your loved ones beaming down at you, running wild through the grass, stooping to pick a flower, hair blowing in the breeze that will never come close to the pleasure of having it on your phone at the beginning of your camera roll.
In an era that is dominated by ‘the digital’ and also fleeting moments, printing your photographs is an ode to the lasting memory of an image. Printing them gives them a tangible and beautifully real quality. Your prints will have a unique power to evoke emotions, spark comments and conversations and connect with people. They trigger the sharing of stories, they beg a visitor to ask the meaning behind the image. You don’t have to force your digital copy onto your friend who comes by for a coffee, the real thing will be framed in all its beauty on the wall opposite them. They won’t be able to help but be in awe! Creating family albums, collections of physical prints is a way of honouring the family heritage, and the story we are yet to tell. It provides your children with something real to pass down to their children, photographs that will be thumbed, cherished, reprinted and lovingly stroked as they turn over page after page.
This is where I come in. I understand shopping around for prints, wall art and albums is overwhelming. Not to mention, a lot of the high street stores don’t provide the quality that your photographs deserve. I will handle the stress by providing you with a range of beautiful options, ordering and finally posting to your forever home. I’ll talk you through the options for sizing and discuss with you what might work best for the wall space in your home. I’ll place orders that will take your breath away when you open them up, and allow you to relive opening your gallery all over again.
Feel free to drop me a message to find out more about the beautiful prints which I offer, and ask any questions you may have! Fancy having art on your walls that makes you smile every time you enter the room? Yeah, me too. Let's get printing!
